April 16th is National Daisy Day. The day is dedicated to daisies, a member of the weed family. Their delicate blooms are considered beautiful and deserve a day all their own. The daisy is a perennial flower that doesn’t require much care. Its name comes from the Old English language, meaning “day’s eye”. Its petals open at dawn and close at sunset. Its leaves are also used as a medicinal remedy. In addition, daisies are beautiful and eye-catching.
The tradition has evolved over the years, starting with paper daisies as a way to raise money for CHOP. Today, the event has expanded beyond paper daisies to change collections, parades, carnivals, luncheons, and other activities. The original goal of Daisy Days was to inspire people to get active and donate during the month of May. The event also encouraged individuals and families to participate and celebrate their efforts to help children in need.
National Daisy Day is also an occasion to give thanks for the things that we have. We should try to be grateful for our blessings, and try to spread the cheer by smiling and helping others. You can do this by leaving an anonymous note to a homeless person, giving a donation to a favorite charity, or starting a rainy day savings account.
