Daisies Early Education and Care Centre

The pedagogy at daisies is strongly influenced by Reggio Emilia principles and the teaching team are highly knowledgeable about this approach. They also have a strong understanding of and commitment to the principles of Te Whariki, the early childhood curriculum. The centre values and promotes partnership with families. The service has an established and maintained relationship with local iwi. The kaiako integrate te reo me nga tikanga Maori into the curriculum and learning programmes for all children. They encourage whanau to attend the centre for hui and learning sessions, including the annual conference for parents and teachers.

One of the key focus areas for daisies is to promote and develop children’s communication skills. Kaiako use a range of intentional teaching experiences to support tamariki to communicate their ideas and feelings, using their words, in sustained shared thinking conversations. Kaiako also use scale tools to identify if the pedagogy is not achieving the desired outcome and provide PLD based on this information.
