Daisies are a colorful flower and are loved the world over. They are part of the largest plant family in the world, the vascular plants. They are found on every continent except Antarctica. Daisies have three main parts: the disk flower in the center, ray flowers around it, and the receptacle for all petals.
The Valerian daisy belongs to the Asteraceae family and is semi-spherical in shape with a central disk of purple or even black. The petals are perfectly shaped and are darker on the outer half of the disk before turning light orange. This variety is suited for gardens and is hardy in USDA zones four to seven.
Bellis daisies are another type of daisy. They are a hardy flower for USDA zones seven through ten and grow about 2 feet tall. They have yellow disks and petals with white centers. They are easy to grow and are a great choice for containers. They’re also a popular choice for wedding bouquets, as they’re available in a variety of colors.
The coneflower daisy, on the other hand, has two tiers of petals, with the smaller petals toward the top ring. The two-tiered design makes it look less wild and more classy, and the rich color of the petals adds to the beauty of this flower. The coneflower daisy blooms from late spring into summer. It may even bloom until the first frost.
