Katy Perry’s New Single “Daisies”

Katy Perry is back with a new song and a fresh outlook on life. “Daisies” marks the first single off her fifth album, and it’s a gorgeous anthem that tells fans to follow their dreams. The 35-year-old singer teamed up with producers Monsters & Strangers (Maroon 5’s “Memories,” Maren Morris and Zedd’s “The Middle,” Dua Lipa’s “Break My Heart”) and wrote the track alongside Jordan K. Johnson and Stefan Johnson, along with Jon Bellion and Jacob Kasher Hindlin.

The video, which was directed by Liza Voloshin, showcases Perry in a picturesque setting. She is seen undressing near a babbling brook, standing on rocks, and showing off her stunning pregnancy body. She also lays in a field of daisies and smiles as she takes in the view.

Although the video was released well before COVID-19, it has taken on a whole different meaning for Perry since then. In a post on Instagram, she shared that the song has become about staying true to her dreams. “And not letting anything or anyone get in your way, especially when the world is falling apart around you,” she continued.

With a baby daughter on the way with fiance Orlando Bloom and a newfound perspective on life, it’s no wonder that Perry is smiling big. Her new song, which celebrates self-confidence and empowerment, might just inspire her to teach her daughter the same things. See the beautiful music video for “Daisies” below! And be sure to catch Perry performing the track live this weekend on Amazon Music’s weekly performance series and during the American Idol finale.
