The English Daisy and Other Daisies Flowers in Your Garden

The daisies are a perennial bulbous plant with bell-shaped flower heads that grow up to one foot tall. These lovely blooms come in a wide range of colors, ranging from white to pale pink. They are found in fields, meadows, along roads and streams, and also in gardens. When planted in containers they do well in a variety of conditions; however, they do better if planted in rich soil with lots of light and good drainage.

To keep daisies looking fresh and vibrant, you can cut them often to stimulate the growth of new blooms and to prevent drying out the older leaves. For an attractive display of daisies in your yard, plant colorful annuals or perennial shrubs between the white petals in late spring and early summer. If you have many different types of daisies, you can create an array by planting early blooming perennials along different paths, mixing in annuals between them, or planting annuals in the center of the growing beds. The result will be an attractive display of flowers that will last all year long.

Most daisies flowers are single stem plants with a single large leaf and a few tiny blooms on each spur. However, there are some varieties that grow double stems and even have two or three flowers on each spur. These flowers often bloom at the end of the growing season, appearing in full bloom as soon as the plants begin to grow again. If you’re hoping to provide your garden with an early bloom, an English daisy, California poppy, or one of the other types of daisies flowers is the perfect choice.
